EVALUATION – BEAUTY BY FAYE
For this specific branding brief the client wanted me to design a number of collateral for her business she is recently moving into a shop and needed business cards, gift cards, a shop sign, posters and price lists designing. I felt this would be perfect for responsive as I would be getting more out of the brief than just simply designing a business card.
How I first went about the brief was making sure I had all the vital information from client I made sure I had all this by asking questions and filling out the appropriate fields in a blank brief document which I posted to my practice blog for reference. One I had all the information to begin designing I began to draw some mockups and thumbnails just to get idea of what I was going to produce I wanted do it on pencil before I made it digital.
Once I began making my work digital I decided I would make a page of variations for the client rather than just a few so she had more variety to pick from. I suggested the client use black and white (like they asked for) but with a small amount of mint blue as it works well with the black and white I showed the first lot of variations she happily picked one but I suggested I would make more variations she asked for a more italic typeface and then she was happy with one of the black and white business cards for the final piece. Once I had this specific style I just needed to apply it to other collateral adding in extra bits.
One of the gift cards my client liked had a geometric black and white pattern I felt it was a little to heavy for the business card as was more quirky than classy like the client had originally asked for so I suggested we use it for the gift card .The price list was very straight forward and I decided to make it a double sided flyer as this specific business is going to start more beauty treatments I will then make new flyers for the other treatments.
I think my strengths through this specific client brief would be able to produce multiple variations quickly to show the client what I was available to produce for her I also made it very clear she could tell me what she didn’t like and what she did so we could act on it and she wasn’t left with something she didn’t want. A possible weakness throughout this brief would be trying to suggest a different colour to the client that she didn’t really want because I would of saved some time designing them specific variations. I have learnt when designing for clients they don’t all do graphic design and if they want something a specific way you do have to do what they ask are your hired for that brief.
I really enjoyed doing this brief as I have never done the work for all of the business collateral before. I am really pleased the client was happy with the outcomes and I am glad I have had the experience doing this and I will know what to expect with future clients.

Responsive Design - Beauty By Faye
RESPONSIVE DESIGN : BEAUTY BY FAYE
DESIGNING:
For the 'Beauty by Faye' Brief i had to do given by a client i began by drawing some initial sketches once i knew my focus and had all of the information for the cards i began designing.I decided to do a number of different variations so that my client had a wide range to choose from.
For the first variations i chose i created a border shape to place the text into so it was still simple but not completely plain i didn't want there to be to much negative space. I experimented with three colours black and white like the client had asked for i also decided to add a mint colour to the business card.
Keeping the monochrome colour theme i next decided to add a pattern and place the text in a circle in and place it on top of the business card. I experimented with my 3 colours and created a few variations.
I sent these finals to the client.
The client was really happy with the final business card variations but asked if she could have a more italic typeface for the name of the business. I decided to try some new typefaces and create more variations so the client was pleased with the outcome and had a lot to choose from.
VARIATIONS 2:
I decided to carry on with the border theme but try the mint colour on the outside rather than just on the text. And also use the new typeface i had chosen as the client had requested.
I decided to try the business card without the border and have the text slightly more enlarged but add in two lines and a heart shape to break up the text.
The client loved this business card but would prefer everything on it to be simply white and loose the mint blue colour.
VARIATIONS 3:
Although the client picked a business card i decided to carry on making a few variations just incase there was anything else she might like or prefer.
Adding small infographics to the business cards -
I mocked up the final business card design the client chose to show her what if looked like on a stock image.
I added the information she wanted with the same typeface for her name as the front of the business card.
Finals -
SHOP SIGN:
This is what the client will be using for her shop sign.
PRICE LIST :
For the price list i simply put the title of her shop and brow treatments underneath splitting it up like i split the business card up.
I added the brow info graphic to the price list and the title brow treatments.
Final-
GIFT CARD:
As the client liked the pattern i had used on some of the business cards i suggested we use it for the gift card. I simply added a black banner and wrote beauty by faye gift card on to it.
On the back i added simple text and lines so the customer could add there details.
Final -
POSTER:
I designed a poster for the inside of her shop with a beauty quote.Keeping the consistency using the same typeface as the business card , gift card and brow treatments price list.
Additionally i decided to make a poster that would feature the clients Facebook and Instagram this would also go inside of the shop -

Responsive - Re-Branding Mobile Beauty - Concept
RESPONSIVE
I decided to use a small company i was rebranding as part of the 5 briefs we are asked to do for responsive.
The concept for the brief is to brand a HD Brow waxing company my friend Faye Irvine owns. At the moment she has very little promotional material so i wanted to create a logo and various material that could be used so her company is recognised more. As its a small company i suggested designing stickers for her car , flyers , business card ( maybe letter head ) and also appointment cards they will bring back customers.
I spoke with Faye and we wrote together considerations and mandatory requirements the points made a very important before i begin designing else it wouldn't be to the clients taste.
Im really looking forward to executing this brief before i begin designing i will research into similar beauty company designs and research into the asethics the brief states.
