Simplest-

We decided the Recycle logo was the simplest form its iconic , crosses all languages barriers , triangle made just from arrows. Mass used.

Most complex -

We decided that a foreign logo we came across was really complex and if it was scaled small you wouldn't be able to see it or understand it but the recycle logo works both large and small.

PAIR DISSCUSSION-

We got into pairs and discussed both sheets of our logos we started with Dans..

TASK
We were asked to find out the history of a few logos and why they've been designed like that.

I decided to look at the following-

STAR BUCKS LOGO

I picked to research into the star bucks coffee logo because i had no idea why there was a mermaid in the middle i actually wasn't aware she was mermaid i just thought it was some quirky design adding to there high end brand. I think the use green because other coffee competitors at that time used brown so they wanted to be different its also true that coffee beans are green before they're roasted or grown so that maybe why.

The history behind the mermaid -

It was the intention of the original Starbucks founders to use the mermaid/siren to represent the seduction of the sea going mariners. In continuing with the metaphor, they were simply replacing the sirens seductive songs with the their tasty irresistible berverages. It is based off Moby Dick and the character Starbuck who was a sailor who loved coffee. And sirens were seductive to sailors they would jump out of boats once they heard the sirens' songs. So it basically means that it is irresistible.

ADIDAS LOGO

I chose adidas because its unique simple and i like the monochrome logo. I think they used lower case letters so it wasn't as bold in comparison with the black blocks. I think possibly the black blocks represent steps?

The history behind the blocks -

In 1997, adidas decided to introduce an integrated corporate design, choosing as the core element a new and yet familiar logo: the 3 bars. It was designed in 1990 by the then Creative Director Peter Moore, and initially used on the Equipment range of performance products. It is inspired by the 3-Stripes as they appear on footwear.

The shape formed by the bars also represents a mountain, indicating the challenge to be faced and the goals to be achieved.

MICROSOFT LOGO
The Microsoft logo is really unique and recognisable by the coloured blocks from a distance or not i was unsure what the colours represented.

The history behind the Microsoft logo -

The logo was changed in August 2012 to reflect the revolution in Microsoft. 2012 was an important part of Microsoft's history, with its new array of product designs (Metro or Modern Design language), Windows 8 is the most crucial Windows launch since Windows 95, being the first Windows to enable a completely different UI.
The blocks of colours symbolises the company's products.

Light Blue is Windows, the 'background' of everything you do on your PC. Blue is a cool and slick colour, symbolising what Microsoft wants Windows to be, slick and quick, yet cool and easy on the eye and easy to use.

Orange/red is Microsoft's Office products. Red means business, because it suggests a busy life, quick and hot, which means Office is meant to get things done nice and quick.

Green is Microsoft Gaming, mainly XBox. Green is fun and the 'Go!' colour, meaning maximum fun.

Yellow is still unclear, But I believe it represents Microsoft Hardware. Yellow is bold and strong, which is what Microsoft hardware is build to be, long-lasting and efficent.
