Collaborative Crit

COLLABORATIVE FINAL CRIT
  • Is there impact of the boards?
  • How clearly they create the concept , context?
  • How clearly they communicate the deliverables?
  • How clearly do they portray audience?

We noticed

  • Alignment / Quality of images
  • Type Setting
  • Top title alignment
  • Spacing margin gutters
  • Typos
  • Explanation/Clarification
Improvements
  • Consistency of layout
  • Defining audience
  • Too much information
  • Impact - Hierarchy of info

Our Feedback-
First Feedback:

  • Visually engaging , the structure & layout works well.
  • Number your pages so we know which order to look at them in.
  • Try using a smaller font size
  • Unsure what the concept actually is.
  • The type boards work, we can see how you've used the type in context, but what is it for?
  • More clearly defined concept statement.
  • We can see the type being used in context which is what the challenge is.
  • Maybe same more examples
  • Maybe some images of it in the actual big issue
  • They do not communicate  the audience, unless it is the people who read the big issue
  • show your audience reading the paper? - Mockup.
Second Feedback:
  • Same similar structure carried throughout which works well.
  • Anchor bar placed in the same place across each board also create structure
  • Slight adjustments on terms of alignment will make a highest layout
  • The concept is carried throughout boards evenly to create consistency.
  • The 'new small format same big issue ' shows the magazine in context of app to print which works well.
  • The new design appeals to an audience which include trend based purchases & Young professionals - As a sheet magazine. This is completely Relevant
  • Put designs into context more e.g.. magazine layouts.
  • The new 'trendy design aesthetics work well in making 'The big issue' a more popular purchase amongst audiences.
  • Maybe include the design of more pages to get an overall feel for the magazine style.
  • The new issue design works really well & the smaller format creates an element of interest & shows that is has been  re-designed.
Comparing Feedback what can we consider:
  • Alignment
  • Consider higher impact
  • Portrait if they are portrait
  • Names , page numbers
  • Check over boards
  • Try different mockups
This session was really helpful and the feedback from Fred and main points given has helped me and Beth make decisions and focus our deliverables and images that we will submit for d&ad.
