Peer Review Outline:
You will have the opportunity to informally present your research, concepts, examples, progress and developments within todays studio session. You can use A3 print outs or your laptop or a mix of the two.
You can present both of your studio brief responses (Print & Web) and encourage feedback for both projects thus far. Or you can focus on presenting one (print or web) to gain focussed feedback.
The peer reviews will be conducted within small pre-determined groups to give you all the appropriate amount of time to gainconstructive feedback and also give constructive feedback.
Managing Your Group:
You and your group will be in charge of managing the review process. Discuss between yourselves, prior to beginning the review process, who will be presenting print or web related work, or print and web related work.
Decide an order based upon the contents of eachothers presentations to enable the reviews to run smoothly and ensure that all presenters do not overrun.
Allow time for feedback and record this feedback in an appropriate manner that will enable future reflection, development and evaluation to be successful and useful.
** Your tutors will observe the session and occassionally sit in to listen and view presentations only - unless any directed questions are made to us from the groups concerned or if there are any major issues regarding content, language or feedback.
DEADLINES
At the beginning of the session we went over the studio deadlines as they had changed slightly :
FINAL PRINT CRIT - 3/4 DECEMBER '13
FINAL WEB CRIT - 10/11 DECEMBER '13
STUDIO DEADLINE FOR
PRINT - 10 DECEMBER
WEB - 10 DECEMBER
DESIGN FOR PRINT & WEB - 7 JANUARY 2014
PEER REVIEWS
We got into groups of around 7 the people in my group were -
Rinesh
Lizzie
Issy
Danielle .H
Sarah Heal
Tristan
How we timed it ?
We decided to create an allocated time for each person in the group and divide it by 7 people.
15minutes x 7 people would equal to around just under 2 hours which was our time scale.
Style of peer review ?
We decided to present to the group and then received feedback and write it down to refer to rather than it be wrote on posit notes and they get lost. People had the option to write on posit notes if they wanted to but we would give them to our peer straight away.
I was first in my group i brought a mood board for both of my concepts showing :

I was first in my group i brought a mood board for both of my concepts showing :
- CONCEPT
- TONE OF VOICE
- AUDIENCE
- TYPEFACES
- THINGS TO CONSIDER
- SPECIALITES
My Feedback for print :
- For my idea of having 5 books for the 5 letters of print why not create an acronym ?
- Consider disposable - packaged properly (tissue paper rip)
- Flash card - lanyard?
- Informed humorous - tone of voice?
- Also Persuasive
- Fluorescent ink - cost?
- Experimentation with laser cut.
My Feedback for web:
- Different categories
- Need to contact the creators of the album artwork for permission
- Create by Genre
- A lot of research
- Images high resolution
- Infinite scroll
- Shape - not able to find information
- Specific audience - Alternative music - Playlist
Specific feedback from Tristan -
Print :Fluorescent ink could make the cost very high. Maybe an alternative ink? What is the tone of voice? Re-think target audience so you can create a specific piece of design for a specific user.
Web: Creative concept with the geometric shapes. Why students? What kind of students?Include links to buy album.
Specific feedback from Danielle:
Foiling 'quick' - This involved screen printed though if its ripped open will be disposable? Size - Where is it going to go gold print stand for anything? Digitally print? Traditional? Maybe shape of packs could fit into each other?
Primary - Secondary audience
WHAT HAVE I CONSIDERED AFTER MY CRIT?
PRINT -
I feel as though my peer review for print went really well i was given things to consider things to change things to think about. I was considering making 5 books for each letter of PRINT somebody suggested i make an acronym. i wanted to use fluorescent colouring but i believe now it will cost to much.
What i will consider after the feedback -
- For my idea of having 5 books for the 5 letters of print why not create an acronym ?
- Print cost
- Experiment with laser cut
WEB -
There were lots of points brought to my attention yesterday like who my audience is going to be? I don't know if i should change my audience. I wanted to create a archive for album art specified in different types of design. I felt although this would be perfect for design students looking for inspiration Eg. This website would of been perfect for the secret 7 brief. I received some feedback that i felt unhelpful in my peer review like how someone didn't like geometric shapes so they wouldn't go on it i didn't feel as though it was constructive criticism and i was still left slightly confused.
What i will consider after the other feedback -
- Possibly have different genres to split up my websites navigation
- consider the quality of the images
- where i will get the content from?
- Infinite scroll
